Inviting somebody to Musmakers

<img:stuff/divider.jpg>

Musmakers is an invitation only community. That means that the people who want to join need to be invited by a member. You may be wondering how to do it. Here’s a quick guide to invitations.

What you need

First than nothing, you need to be given the ability to invite new members. For that, contact a member of Musmaker’s staff.

Sending the invitation through mail

If you have been given the ability to invite new members to MM, by any of the site’s staff, then you should have a new link now on the mainstreet, that reads “Invite somebody to Musmakers”. Click on it.

You’ll find yourself on a wiki with three fields to fill:

The email address of the one you wish to invite: Here you introduce the mail address of the person you wish to invite.

Comment to add to the invitation: What you write here is the message that will be sent along with the invitation. Musmakers has a standarized message, but you can add your own words, explaining why you are sending the invitation. This can prevent the mail from being deleted as spam.

Why this person is invited: Fill this field with the reasons why this person is getting the invitation.

After you’ve filled the fields, just click on invite and a mail with all the data will be sent to the mail address given.

Using a different channel

If you don’t want to send the automatic mail, you can send the invitation yourself. To do so, fill only the reasons field and click on invite. This will take you to a page with several codes. Just send one of these codes to the person you are inviting.

Important: Every code can be used only one time, so you need to send a different code to every person

Who should be invited

Essentially, people that have something to give to the community. We are not a community for fans, but a community for professional and amateur musicians. That always should be kept in mind.

Also, we don’t want members that sign on just because they can. We want people who are really interested on the community. So don’t send invitations just for the sake of sending invitations. We know who has invited every member and if we see that somebody has invited a lot of members that are giving problems, then we will have to take out your ability to invite new members or, if the situation deserves it, ban you.

Besides that, we want new members, so it is a good idea to bring your people here.
