“The cello is basically an intractable instrument. Its very size makes it difficult to control. It requires strong muscles to handle it and coax a beguiling sound out of it.” - Suvi Raj Grubb 1983, taken from Jacqueline du Pré: Impressions

After seeing a couple of wiki-pages – Bassists Unite, Guitarists Unite, the Piano Union to name a few – I felt that the cellists needed a bit more publicity.

I know as a cellist I am extremely biased.

But cellos rule

They have an extraordinary range of pitch and sounds and there really is nothing much better than a gorgeous cello melody.

I said I was biased, okay!!! Nyaa! XP

Before I start rambling out of control, I don’t want this wiki to be restricted to just cello players. I want it to be for cello lovers and people who appreciate the endless qualities of it.
